QATAR CITY, Qatar - Enbat Group has officially opened the Enbat Center for Sustainable Food Systems at Green Island in Education City, a sustainability and environmental education hub operated by Qatar Foundation. The launch took place during Qatar Sustainability Week and brings a new space dedicated to exploring the challenges and opportunities facing modern food systems.
The center is the result of a partnership between Enbat Group and Green Island, an initiative of Qatar Foundation that focuses on environmental awareness, recycling, education, and community engagement.
According to founder and CEO Ghanim Al-Sulaiti, the center aims to bring together education, science, art, and community participation to encourage deeper discussion about how food choices affect both human health and the environment.
In an earlier announcement, Al-Sulaiti said the center would use visual storytelling and hands-on workshops to examine challenges within food systems, explore potential solutions, and highlight the impact of everyday dietary decisions.
The opening attracted students, educators, and community members, reflecting the project's educational focus. In a statement shared after the launch, Al-Sulaiti described the center as the culmination of years of work in entrepreneurship and education aimed at encouraging people to consider the broader effects of their food choices.
The center is located within Green Island, an 8,000-square-meter sustainability hub in Education City. Established by Qatar Foundation, Green Island serves as a platform for environmental learning, recycling initiatives, sustainability partnerships, and community programmes.
While public information about the center's exhibitions and programs remains limited, its focus on sustainable food systems reflects growing regional interest in the environmental impacts of food production and consumption. The initiative adds to a broader conversation across the Middle East about food security, sustainability, and the future of food education.
